Welcome to the book-nerdiest episode yet! (In the best possible way) Spanny loves the the Medal of Honor series of middle-grade nonfiction, so he reached out to author Michael Spradlin. They discuss small-town childhood (including Michael’s solo jaunt to the library as a two-year-old) and tips for would-be authors and parents who want to raise readers. Michael takes us through interesting milestones:  Reading Hardy Boys by flashlight … joining heroes such as London, Asimov and Bradbury in getting published in ”Boys Life” … flubbing a try at the Lawrence Block approach, but still receiving an Edgar Award nomination for his first book. You’ll get glimpses of the night-owl writing and research that yields new books such as Michael’s upcoming release that describe Jimmy Carter’s radioactive pee. Yes, you read that right. What an episode!
