Once in a while, things actually work out the way you hope. That happened recently for THIS IS RED, the fundraising project that Dread created for the library that his wife Janet runs. The two of them saw the potential to bring in significant money by submitting Janet for a professional award—and she was the unanimous selection from a nationwide pool! This is a discussion of lots of different organizational principles and a behind-the-scenes look at the blend of timing, learning, good fortune and productively-viewed bad fortune that led to Janet’s receiving the magnificently-named, generously-funded Lemony Snicket Prize for Noble Librarians Facing Adversity.
